Credentials

  • I am chief executive for Inaura the inclusion charity and a chartered psychologist.  Inaura is a charity working to reduce the exclusion of children with special or additional educational needs.  Inaura is also a registered independent school for which I am the Headteacher and a registered independent fostering agency for which I am the Responsible Individual.  My main area of expertise is intellectual and psychological disability whether acquired or innate. 
  • My specialist competencies comprise working with learning disabilities, special educational needs, restorative approaches, educational management, relational skills, children, families, and bereavement.  I have been providing assessments of adults with learning and/ or other specific disabilities, adolescents and young people for a variety of purposes including family and criminal court proceedings for more than ten years.
  • In 1997 – 2001 I led the Croydon Sexuality and Personal Development joint Project for Croydon Social Services and Surrey NHS Trust to establish a sexuality and personal development team for adults with learning disabilities.  I was a participant in the Home Office advisory group on sexual offending and capacity to consent.  I am a ;co-author in the Books Beyond Words series for people with learning disabilities published by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
  • I have a BA degree in Social Psychology and a Doctoral degree (PhD) awarded in 1997 by London University (Department of Psychology).  I have been routinely using psychometric tests for more than ten years.  During 1998-2001 I was a senior research fellow in the Department of Psychiatry of Disability, at St. George’s Hospital Medical School,  where I participated in the analysis of forensic psychiatric studies, and in particular the relationship between intellectual impairment and offending behaviour. 
  • I am a member of the British Psychological Society list of expert witnesses. I am also a qualified teacher for children with special needs.
